Christina Kinton joined the firm in 1987, after receiving her juris doctor degree from
Northwestern University School of Law. Ms. Kinton works with a variety of individuals and
closely-held businesses. She assists clients in planning and implementing their estate plans,
customizing each plan to fit the individual needs and preferences of the client, from simple wills
and powers of attorney for some individuals, to planning very complicated estates for extremely
In connection with estate planning, Ms. Kinton has prepared wills, powers of attorney for health
care and for property, living wills, revocable (or “living”) trusts, land trust agreements and
deeds, irrevocable life insurance trusts, irrevocable trusts for minors and other beneficiaries,
partnerships and limited liability companies, private annuities, and other documents.
Ms. Kinton prepares income, gift and estate tax returns, and private foundation returns; she also
organizes and advises private foundations. Families and executors may rely on Ms. Kinton to
represent them in the Illinois probate courts, if a probate process is required. In addition, Ms.
Kinton is available to assist clients in probate and trust administration. She represents
closely-held businesses, reviewing and preparing contracts, leases and other documents, forming
entities, and working on business succession plans. She also gives advice to businesses in
employment and other matters, and represents clients in their business and investment transactions.
Ms. Kinton honed her writing skills and her analytical abilities while pursuing her journalism
degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she was elected to the Mystical Seven senior
honorary, and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi.
